Former Marlborough School Teacher Pleads Guilty to Four Felony Counts of Sexual Assault
As published by LA Times, BuzzFeed, Inside Edition, KTLA, ABC 7 and NBC, on October 22, 2015, Dr. Joseph Koetters, a former Marlborough School teacher pled guilty to four felony counts of sexual assault of two minors who were also former students. Mr. Koetters sexually molested both students while they attended Marlborough in the early 2000s.
The story originally broke on BuzzFeed when another former student posted an essay about her experience with Mr. Koetters’ flirtatious and inappropriate actions. After the essay went viral, several other victims opened up about the sexual harassment they experience by Mr. Koetters.
Dave Ring, who represents both victims in their civil suit, spoke to media about the emotional distress this assault has inflicted on each of the victims and the permanent damage it has caused. “He (Koetters) is nothing short of someone who used his position of power as a teacher at a very prestigious school to target underage girls for his own gain, and today you’ve heard the emotional harm that these two women experienced,” says Mr. Ring.
