John C. Taylor Takes Fight Against Age Discrimination Back to the Courts
Gilberto Santillan is a beloved figure in Manhattan Beach, where he has dedicated more than 30 years of his life to hauling garbage away for USA Waste of California Inc. When he, along with a handful of other older, Spanish-speaking employees were fired or suspended under USA Waste’s new management, he turned to John C. Taylor of Taylor & Ring to help him file a claim for age discrimination. Gilberto had the full power of the Manhattan Beach community behind him, too: everyone wants justice for him.
It looks like that justice will be served soon. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of Gilberto Santillan, saying “An employer’s incorrect view of the law is not a legitimate reason for firing an employee.” John Taylor will continue to fight on behalf of Gilberto Santillan, holding USA Waste accountable for their actions in front of a jury.
