Taylor & Ring Files Lawsuit On Behalf Of Woman Who Lost 95% Of Eyesight In Golf Disk Injury

Taylor & Ring filed a lawsuit on behalf of a woman who lost nearly 95 percent of her eyesight after being struck in the head by a flying “Frisbee”-like golf disk in Polliwog Park. The lawsuit filed against the City of Manhattan Beach, seeks to recover significant compensation for the woman’s serious injuries.

The victim was watching her high school daughter’s track practice when an object came “out of nowhere” and struck her in the eye. The sport, often referred to as Disk Golf, began with lightweight plastic Frisbees, but nowadays, hard disks weighing up to six ounces are used. Victims’ lawyers John C. Taylor and David Ring were able to obtain evidence that the City of Manhattan Beach knew of the danger these disks posed to the general public at the park, yet failed to take adequate precautions to prevent this foreseeable injury from occurring. The disk golf course is laid out so that players throw the disks into the midst of the general public, including children, who are simply at the park to relax and play.

Mr. Ring commented, “The absurdity of it seems obvious and I can’t think of one good reason that the disk golf course is there. What if a two year old gets hit? You’ll see so many huge divots in the trees from the disks. That shows how dangerous they are.”

“There have been several past similar instances and with the growing popularity of the sport, there is likely to be more,” concludes Mr. Ring.
