Taylor & Ring Represents Victim Who Went Viral With Sexual Abuse Allegations On YouTube
David Ring of Taylor & Ring is representing Jamie C., now 28, who went viral with her allegations against her former teacher Andrea Cardosa, who taught Jamie in the eighth grade. Jamie’s YouTube post drew national and international attention when her confrontation of her abuser went viral. The post has been viewed by over 1.4 million people.
Jamie learned that Cardosa was still working in schools in 2014 and decided to confront Cardosa by phone.Jamie called Cardosa and confronted her stating, “You ruined my life. You ruined my childhood.” Cardosa responded, “I regret it every day.”
Jamie sent the YouTube link to Cardosa’s school. Cardosa was fired that same day. However, the public got wind of the YouTube posting, and it went viral. No one had ever confronted an abuser and obtained such a damning admission and posted in on YouTube. Cardosa was subsequently arrested and is facing charges that could lead to life in prison for abusing Jamie and another girl.
Cardosa abused Jamie while teaching at Chemawa Middle School, part of Riverside Unified School District. Cardosa taught at many other school districts after leaving Riverside.
Mr. Ring discussed the case in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. Since the YouTube post, a second victim has come forward with similar allegations against Cardosa.
This case was featured in several national media outlets, including The Katie Couric Show and The View.
