Taylor & Ring Warns Of Danger Associated With Katella Avenue Bridge In Orange County

Taylor & Ring attorneys John Taylor and Robert Clayton were interviewed by NBC Los Angeles, KTLA and the OC Register discussing the severe danger posed by the unguarded, open median on Katella Avenue in Orange County. On April 18, 2014, a man fell through the open median after leaving an Anaheim Ducks hockey game at the Honda Center. The man landed on the riverbed 40 feet below and was hospitalized.

This comes on the heels of a nearly identical 2008 incident in which 27-year old Guillermo Gomez fell to his death at the very same location after leaving a Coldplay concert at the Honda Center. Taylor & Ring represented Mr. Gomez’s family in the lawsuit. During the trial, the County of Orange, the City of Anaheim and the Honda Center all claimed it was a fluke accident that would never happen again. Taylor & Ring said they were wrong and the dangerous roadway was another accident waiting to happen.

In the interview, Mr. Clayton states, “I don’t know how many people have to die before they realize they need to fix this roadway. You can’t tell there’s a hole in the middle of the road.”

“They did not heed the warning of experts and it’s absolutely inexcusable that this happened again,” added Mr. Taylor.
